Why Do I Create Micro Crochet Jewelry?

This thought came from a not-so-pleasant experience during a cold winter.

I was attending a company year-end dinner, wearing a pair of silver earrings. My neck was already freezing, and those icy earrings made it worse. Even after returning to a warm, heated room, they never warmed up. That moment made me wonder: what if earrings could feel warm?

I began trying yarn, but regular crochet always turned out too large and unsuitable to wear—it lacked the refinement I was looking for. Slowly, I started thinking: what if these things could be made smaller?

I dived into all kinds of DIY resources and stumbled across the world of micro crochet. When I used 80-weight thread and a 0.2mm hook to create my first self-designed earrings, I was stunned. So delicate, so adorable, so full of charm. That was the turning point that led me from standard yarn to micro crochet.

Now I want to share these warm creations with everyone who’s ever had an unpleasant experience with accessories, who loves cuteness, who loves yarn, who values refinement and uniqueness. Sweaters warm your body, hats warm your head—MIMO warms your world.

Where Does My Inspiration Come From?

People who love handmade crafts usually have eyes that notice the world.

A blade of grass in the park is my inspiration. A wildflower by the roadside is my inspiration. The fruit hanging from a tree, a character that pops up on TV, meals, coffee, exercise, strolls—everything is a source of creative energy.
I often get flashes of quirky pairings: "What if I match this with that?" "What if that goes with this?"

Until those sparks are stitched into reality and become visible to you.

What Draws Me to Micro Crochet?

This question is really a continuation of the last one.

When I had ideas for accessory designs, I initially used regular yarn. But it was often too big or not refined enough. Though I did manage some good pieces, most of the time it limited my creativity—and that’s what drew me to micro crochet.

When I first picked up 80-weight thread and a 0.2mm hook, I questioned myself: would this harm my eyes over time? Were my fingers nimble enough? Would I injure my hands? But none of those concerns were strong enough to stop the intense urge I had to design and explore micro crochet.

My first micro crochet earring was inspired by a little daisy I saw on the roadside. When the final piece was done, it absolutely blew me away. So refined, so cute, so perfect. I couldn’t stop myself from crocheting more and more.

Now it's been over three years, and none of those fears have come true. That’s why I want to say to anyone curious about micro crochet:

Don’t be afraid. Just pick up the hook. Once you try, you’ll fall in love.

Mini coffee cups, mini strawberries, mini salt bags, mini flowers—they're all waiting for you to discover them.
